'A new norm': BBC visits Doha market filling up again two weeks into Iran war

Trending 3 hours ago

At the start of the conflict between Israel, the US, and Iran on 28 February, Doha's Souq Waqif market was nearly empty, with residents of the usually safe and stable capital shaken by the regional attacks.

Qatar's neighboring countries have experienced the effects of Tehran's retaliatory strikes, with at least 18 people killed across the Gulf states so far.

Meanwhile, most strikes targeting Qatar—including some aimed at US military bases—have been intercepted by air defenses, causing minimal damage on the ground and no reported deaths in the country.

As the Middle East conflict enters its third week, Doha's most famous market is beginning to see increased activity. BBC's Barbara Plett Usher visited the market to hear how people are feeling.
