In the latest installment of our A Life in Science series, Audrey Clapéron, Translational Biology Director, explains the vital role data plays in advancing scientific discovery. She describes how leading a team of pharmacologists and delivering high-quality evidence for clinical development keeps her motivated and connected to the patients who may ultimately benefit.
“Data are clearly at the foundation of everything. They provide objective evidence for decision-making, making them essential to the project,” says Audrey Clapéron, Translational Biology Director at Ipsen.
Her work focuses on ensuring that projects are guided by reliable results. “My daily responsibility is to ensure that all pharmacological data are delivered to the project. I also lead a team of in vivo and in vitro pharmacologists.”
These data are not abstract—they are critical to advancing discoveries. “We are very close to the patient because we provide evidence and data for clinical development, so the patients are almost right here with us.”
This close connection to patients shapes how Audrey and her team approach challenges. “When things become complex and difficult, I always return to the project’s key priorities—to deliver new, innovative medicines to patients, prioritize when necessary, communicate with the team, and provide a clear vision so they can work efficiently to move the project forward.”
Audrey’s insights emphasize that data are more than just information—they are the evidence that drives medicines forward, with patients always at the forefront.
